What is FIWARE?
FIWARE is an open-source initiative defining a universal set of standards for context data management which facilitates the development of Smart Solutions for different domains such as Smart Cities, Smart Industry, Smart Agrifood, and Smart Energy.
In any smart solution, there is a need to gather and manage context information, processing that information, and informing external actors, enabling them to actuate and therefore alter or enrich the current context. The FIWARE Context Broker component is the core component of any “Powered by FIWARE” platform. It enables the system to perform updates and access the current state of context.
What is a FIWARE iHub?
According to the FIWARE Community, the FIWARE iHubs network plays a fundamental role in the global FIWARE Community, helping local digital businesses to be more competitive in the current digital economy. A FIWARE iHub is a one-stop-shop for digital innovation, education, and business growth.
iHubs focus on building communities that will, in turn, enable local digital businesses to thrive not only at a regional but on a global level. They support companies, cities, and developers in their innovation and digitalisation journey by offering easy access to Open Source technologies, business development support, and community building.
The main challenge for companies, cities, or territories willing to be more competitive in the current digital economy is the lack of internal resources to access disruptive technologies, tools, and solutions.
When knocking on the door of a FIWARE iHub with an idea in mind, rest assured that you won’t leave empty-handed. Rather, you will leave with a way forward.
